Actor Gale Gordon is relieved at the medical reports on longtime co- star Lucille Ball.

"I've talked to the family and she's doing marvellously," says Gordon of Ball, his buddy of 35 years.

Ball is in Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre recovering from emergency heart surgery. And Gordon, now starring in the Bill C. Davis two- hander
Mass Appeal at the new Mayfair Dinner Theatre here, is "very relieved."

Ball was last seen in public March 29, when she introduced a production number with Bob Hope at the 61st Academy Awards ceremonies.

A perennial favorite with Edmonton audiences, Gordon is perhaps best known for the crusty bank manager he played in the I Love Lucy
series. But "even before TV, we shared a radio program," recalls Gordon of his long association and friendship with Ball. He celebrated his
83rd birthday Feb. 20, the day he arrived in Edmonton. Ball phoned with good wishes.

Popular demand has meant that Mass Appeal is held over at the Mayfair until May 28. Gordon says he's "gratified, euphoric, delighted -- it's
very flattering."
